Last we left off, we had our heads spinning due to all the different shades of blue in the house. Well, I hate to lead off with this but there is definitely more blue. Like every room upstairs…is also blue. And to make matters worse, the walls upstairs are textured, so painting is going to be a bear. We did have a creative solution for a lot of this though so, I’ll just start room by room.
Going up the stairs will lead you to the common area or family room. Its a huge space that is definitely a big perk for the kids, and for us adults. Now we can watch different movies and shows simultaneously. I have big plans for this room but it’s fine as is for now. I’d love to add vertical shiplap to the entire room and ceiling, with a dry bar and built in cabinetry along the long open wall. Adding built in seating in the dormers would be so nice for the kids to read or listen to music while taking in some sun.
Emma’s room is pretty much already planned out. We plan to add new LVT Flooring and lots of pops of pink. We want to do a vintage bead board look painted in a blush pink color and leaving the top half of the wall white. The closet doors and window trim will also be pink and accented with new blackout woven shades. The nook will get a specialty wallpaper treatment, a pretty new desk and light as well as some shelving for all her favorite books.
The boys room will also get the same bead board treatment, except their colors will be a pale grey. We want to accent the vintage greens, blacks and white with some wood tones in their furniture. Im hoping to find a large desk for storage and books and they will have an extra dresser in their room for toys.
Lastly is the kid’s bathroom. It kind of an odd setup and very small, so doing some reconfiguring will be in the future, but it’s good for now, while the kids are still young. There is another room on the second level I couldn’t get a photo of and that’s the “theatre” room. There is a film on the window preventing light from coming in and the room itself is really dark. You’ll just have to take my word for it that it’s also a deep shade of blue and also an odd setup.
Hope you enjoyed the tour of upstairs! I’d love to hear thoughts and recommendations on the current setup and ideas on how to add more storage.
