I don’t paint with pink very often, but when I do, it seems to be a really popular project. Pink is just one of those colors that scares me both personally and professionally. Personally in the way that if I were to keep something pink, I wouldn’t know where to put it or how to decorate around it. Professionally in that it’s one of those colors that is usually hit or miss with sales. This one was a big hit. More so because of the name that came with the color, Country Chic Paint’s Fall Limited Edition Color “Hope”.

This year Country Chic Paint wanted to something special to bring Cancer awareness and to celebrate the lives of survivors, family members, friends and supporters. It’s frightening to think how many people are touched with some form of cancer, and how much it resonates through communities of every kind. This color, Hope specifically represents the Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon, and the fact that this piece is so feminine and strong in shape, speaks perfectly to the color match.
The Prep:
- Remove old hardware and drawers.
- Vacuum with Shopvac in drawer spaces, in and underneath the drawers and behind/bottom of chest.
- Clean dresser with Simple Green, hot water and Scrubby Sponges.
- Fill chipped veneer with Elmer’s ProBond Wood Filler.
- Sand with 150 grit paper to remove flaky finish. Finish with 220.
- Apply 3 coats of Spray Shellac for tannin bleeding.
After the chest was fully prepped, it was time for paint. Am I the only one who looks forward to putting on the first coat? Im not a fan of everything prep, but it takes up the majority of my time. Spraying furniture is only about 10 minutes but it’s so gratifying! I sprayed 3 coats of CCP HOPE for full coverage. This piece didn’t need any distressing, but I did have to do touchups because of bleed through.
After the paint had dried for 24 hours, I sprayed three coats of General Finish High Performance Top Coat in Satin. I imagined this being in a little girls room or a nursery, and any furniture with kids required heavy duty protection. These interior drawers were just cleaned up and finished a bit of Country Chic Paint Hemp Oil.
I think this paper embodies everything feminine. It even pairs perfectly with the peach/blush color that Hope is and I love how the dark magentas play off the greens and teals. It really was the perfect paper I had on hand to match this chest.
Even these abstract blush knobs with gold rims matched perfectly. It was a project where everything came together and was meant to be. I guess when you’re painting for a good cause, things just see to flow together. Speaking of the good cause, if you choose to buy Country Chic Paint, keep in mind there are 5 tickets hidden inside jars of these limited edition colors.
