Petal Milk Paint Makes A Chippy Beauty

No lie, this pink chippy beauty is probably my most-liked Instagram post of all time. Standing tall at 645 likes, this piece got so much love and I still find it floating around on Insta every now and then. I painted this piece back in 2019 but I still use this as inspiration every time I want something feminine and unique. This was painted in Old Barn Milk Paint in Petal and it transformed this piece from aged wood to a pretty pink chippy beauty.

Sadly I don’t have any before photos of this piece. If you had to picture it, it was just dark dirty wood that hid so many of those cool details including the scalloped backsplash. In fact, I didn’t even notice the ornate grooves and carvings until I put on the first coat of paint.

Old Barn Milk Paint has since rebranded to Rove + Dwell. They do still carry this pretty warm shade of pink on their line along with many other bespoke colors and I would recommend them as a milk paint option if you’re trying to replicate this look. Im very particular about the products I endorse but this paint company was one I was extremely happy with.

The floral knobs with the blush glazed detail just gave this piece a dainty, elegant look. Pairing hardware with paint is part of the fun in the process so I knew these knobs were perfect for this color.

Some people can shy away from the “chippy” look, afraid that it will continue to chip over time. While environmental conditions do play a part in that, for the most part you won’t lose but a flake or two over a few years (if sealed properly). This was sealed with Fusion Beeswax so I know my piece is well protected. Waxed pieces should also be given a yearly buff with wax just to upkeep the the finish.

You can’t forget to add a matching paper to the insides. Its always nice to open up a drawer and find a nice floral surprise. Overall, this color, and piece are definitely one for the ages. Who doesn’t love chippy and pink?
