Hey y’all! Are you ready for fall yet? I sure am! I’m not sure if I ever admitted this but I really really…like really dislike hot weather. I’m one of those weirdos I guess that loves the cold and savors every moment of fall and winter. Even spring is kind of iffy for me. Either way, I’m ready for hoodies, fires, and cozy nights at home. Since the hot weather is still going strong, I figured I’d throw it back to this funky little cabinet painted in Old Barn Milk Paint “Fiddle Leaf.”

When I bought this cabinet off craigslist, I knew I had to do something funky with it. It was a gorgeous cabinet, and Im a sucker for primitive lines, so it was a no brainer for me to play on those large flat spaces.
I’ve had this succulent print in my inventory for a long time waiting for the right piece to use it on. I love that it paired perfectly with this milk paint color called “Fiddle Leaf” by Old Barn Milk Paint. OBMP is such an amazing brand that is up and coming. They have so many amazing products besides their milk paint. You may have also seen their All in One Stains and Oil+Wax finish floating around on the social media channels. I really love using OBMP because its finish is genuinely authentic and 100% non toxic and environmentally friendly. The coverage of this cabinet only took 2 coats! I contribute that to the amazing combination of Zibra Brushes and OBMP!
For this particular project, I used my Zibra Round Brush. It is my absolute favorite!
I was able to get such a flat smooth finish with OBMP because I lightly sanded the wood using 220 grit sanding pads. After the final coat was applied, I took my scraper and removed just the chipping and flaking pieces of paint. Then I used my zip sander to intentionally distress around the edges and trim.
I assumed that this cabinet would be used as an entry way piece or possibly a small bar. So I used General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Satin to seal, while sanding in between coats using my 220 pad.
This hardware is so versatile, I use it on a large number of my products. I don’t know if its the style, or color but it pairs well with everything! For that reason I keep a large number of these iron brass cup pulls in my inventory.
Doesn’t this print look awesome in the doors? Im really hoping to order it again, and try adding some wood elements to it with a different project. This cabinet went home with one of my repeat clients from San Antonio before we moved out here. Man do I miss Texas!
