We are Jake & Crystal Sutton, owners of The Driftwood Home! Jake & I are both Active Duty military serving in the US Air Force. The past decade has been a roller coaster of deployments and assignments but 3 years ago, fate brought us together as I was on my way to Afghanistan. Two weeks into my deployment and I found out we were having our son, and things just fell into place after I came back home. The military brought us to San Antonio after we got married and this is where our furniture journey began.
We started this business initially to supplement our income. But as time went on and we became more confident in our projects and experiences, we found ourselves helping a lot of people interested in furniture painting who just like us, were starting out, on a budget with no idea where to begin. Our hope is that somewhere out there, as another future DIY’er begins their journey to furniture revival, that they can stumble across our blog and take away some valuable lessons learned, inspiration, or just feel supported in knowing that we all start somewhere…we just need the courage to pick up that brush and paint something pretty!
We are enjoying all the hill country has to offer, but we are never in one place too long! Alexandria, Virginia is home to us for now. When duty calls, we will make our next location the home of The Driftwood Home!
