Hello Everyone! I’m down to my last TWO projects before our move to Virginia, and I have to say it’s making me anxious. I don’t know what I’m going to do with all that extra time on my hands, but I guess I can catch up on my blogging. One piece I painted in particular this summer was this upcyled plant station/potting bench my husband built for our front porch and it was painted in Country Chic Paint’s Fall Limited Edition Color “Wishing Well.”

When we first moved into our home, one of our neighbors asked if we wanted a swinging bench. We took it knowing that we could use the wood to recreate something else, so my husband quickly created this potting bench. The bench is made from cedar wood so I knew it would be safe outdoors.
I wanted something bright and cheery since our front porch is kind of greyed out and dark. I saw this color and knew it would be perfect and bring some life into an otherwise dreary entryway. I put on a base coat of some leftover brown and grey paint and then I used my Country Chic Brush paint two coats of the fall limited edition color “Wishing Well.”
I really like this color because teals and turquoises have always been colors I’ve been drawn to. In the jar, this color looks much greener, but over the wood, its much more of an ocean green-blue. I know that all my plants and pots will definitely be highlighted with such a pretty color. I also think that because it sits on my front porch, it gives our brick façade a warmer, more welcoming feel.
I love how the terra cotta pots just pop against the bench. It gives me hope that Spring will hurry up and start warming things up, especially since many in the north are still receiving chilly temps and even snow!
I sealed the bench with two coats of hemp oil . Hemp oil is a great exterior sealant and stands up to most weather. However, you could also seal outdoor furniture with an outdoor sealant like spar varthane or another exterior sealant. Since our porch is covered, it will be mostly protected from rainfall and the rare occasion we get snow.
This color is too pretty not to showcase in your home. I can definitely see this color in a mermaid themed room , or paired with lots of bright whites and linens in the winter time. I know that Country Chic Paint still has some of this paint left in their stock, so if you fell in love with this color like I did, better get yourself some before it sells out!
