Hello! I know…I have been MIA…but to be fair, I’ve been extremely busy with trying to catch up with life in general. I’ve been blessed with a ton of custom work from repeat customers which helped us make a little profit this year. Last year we barely broke even! Running a furniture business is hard, especially when trends constantly change and home decor is something that is frequently interchangeable. Even though my colorful pieces take a little longer to sell, I love to be brave with color!
I remembered to take a “before” photo of this piece. Actually, I think its the for sale photo from OfferUp. But as you can see this piece needs a lot of veneer work. But for the price I paid, it evened out in the end.
I had different visions for this one, other than the way it turned out. I wanted to do a wood and paint combo, especially since the top looked to be in good condition, but after fixing the veneer and removing the old stain, it simply wouldn’t work.
I painted this in Fusion Mineral Paint’s “Homestead Blue.” It is a very beautiful blue with several different green undertones. In the light, it looks more green, and in the dark the beautiful blue hues come out. It’s one of my favorite paint colors from the Fusion line. I also tried to photograph this piece in the right light, but it was one of those days where the sun was in and out of the clouds, so some of these photos will appear darker or lighter. This first photo is the true color.
The art deco style furniture really isn’t for everyone. But I love it because of it’s waterfall edges, straight lines, and unique curves. Even the hardware is unique.
I recoated the infinity pulls with Rub ‘n Buff’s Antique Gold. I used my fingertip for this, just because the application seemed easier this way rather than using a brush. The stuff is stinky, but dries quickly and is extremely scratch resistant.
I sealed the paint with my favorite go-to polyurethane, General Finishes HPTC in Satin. I am wondering if maybe I should have done a gloss finish, but I didn’t want to draw too much attention to the remaining flaws on the dresser. The work in chipping off the veneer alone added some battle scars.
A pretty paint color deserves a pretty floral liner don’t you think? This paper is leftover from previous projects, but I’m a sucker for watercolor florals and I think it just goes perfect paired with this paint color.
Hopefully it will be sooner than a month before I can get to my next post. I promise I have a ton of cool projects coming up!

Thank you Tatiana…there are several colors I tested on this piece, but this one was the winner!

What a great job. I’m a fan of deco. I have a old tea cart that converts to a small table. Will you paint for me? I can send a picture of the cart
