If there is anything that I am discovering about myself, it’s that my moods play a huge part in what colors I choose for furniture. It seems the more daring, and inspired I am, the brighter my color choices tend to be. But my more consistent, introverted self says neutrals are ALWAYS comforting, and you can never go wrong with a pretty gray.
I’d be lying if I said things weren’t hectic lately. Since we moved our business to Etsy, things in our furniture tempo have definitely changed, for the better of course. I used to pray that sales in my store would boom, and I’d constantly be shipping and moving furniture. Well the good Lord Jesus, has definitely answered our prayers and kept me busy with a ton of custom work, but the vintage items belong to a different crowd and well, I just keep telling myself that it always takes a little longer for our items to find the right buyer. And of course, the good furniture never stops showing up in the buy/sell pages and Offer Up, and we ALL know that you happen to find the best stuff when you’re not looking.
So I came across this little gem. I’ve been looking for a set of vanity tables to turn into nightstands, but for now, there is only this one. It was in decent shape, but I definitely had to bug bomb it, and give it a good cleaning. I also filled the side where at some point it was attached to a shelf, so that it wouldn’t look like it was pulled directly off something. After a super light sanding, and a good wash, I decided it really didn’t need anymore prep.
I used the last of my Country Chic Paint in “Pebble Beach.” This really is a very pretty, light gray that goes well with just about anything. I’ve also used it on the Armada Dresser and the Iron Foot Dresser in both of these blog posts.
I also removed the front drawer appliqués as they were broken and far beyond repair. I just sanded flat and gave it a light distressing with my orbital sander. I sealed it with two coats of my favorite top coat, General Finishes HPTC in Satin.
This pretty infinity twist design on the front is really all the intricate/ornate this piece needs besides the turned legs and white rose ceramic knobs. It turned out to be a very feminine piece.
I definitely used all my leftovers when it came to paint, knobs and liner. These drawers were small enough to use some leftover scraps that I love to keep for unique pieces like this.
Hope you guys loved this makeover. Perhaps, I will be in a more daring mood the next time I you come to the blog! Oh and please don’t forget to check out our Etsy shop (link in right bar). You never know if I happen to have a vintage piece you are looking for! Thanks for stopping by!
